Jurgen Auerbach – former CTO, Ghiradelli

Bio: Jurgen became CFO of Ghirardelli in May 2000 when he relocated with his wife to the US from Switzerland. Prior to working at Ghirardelli, Jurgen was head of corporate controlling for the Lindt & Sprüngli Group. He holds a degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Zurich. Board member of BayCFO (the largest private club of CFO's in the San Francisco Bay Area), the SF Bay Area Chapter of FEI (Financial Executives International), and of the Business Arts Council, an affiliate of the SF Chamber of Commerce. Jurgen also is an active advisor and member of Keiretsu Forum.

Kenyatta Berry – JD, elected Council, Corporation at the New England Historic Genealogical Society

Bio: Kenyatta D. Berry is a genealogist, businesswoman, and lawyer with more than ten years experience in research focusing on African American and Virginia genealogy. She has been quoted in Jet Magazine and a guest on XM Satellite radio The Power! Kenyatta is the founder of Azani Media a privately held company that provides consumers with access to information that connects generations, strengthens family bonds and improves life experiences. Azani Media is a network of more than twenty websites dedicated to genealogy and family health history. Ms. Berry founded Discover Genealogy in 2004 as a resource for beginning and African American genealogists. She is currently developing slavegenealogy.com a user generated content site that empowers African Americans to connect the missing link between slavery and emancipation.

Fran Maier – Executive Director, TRUSTE

Bio: Fran Maier is the Executive Director and President of TRUSTe, the leading brand in online privacy. The TRUSTe privacy certification seal is displayed by more than 1200 Web sites, including both major online brands and Fortune 500 companies. TRUSTe also provides certification and dispute resolution services for the Bonded Sender email program, which is utilized by many leading email service providers and major brands to enhance delivery of legitimate email. Ms. Maier joined TRUSTe in 2001, since then, TRUSTe has significantly increased its revenues, improved its certification, monitoring and dispute resolution platforms, and launched new initiatives into trusted email as well as wireless privacy. Ms. Maier is known for her expertise in online privacy policies and industry online marketing best practices. She has extensive experience building online brands as a co-founder of Match.com, VP of Marketing for Women.com, and VP of Marketing for Kmart’s BlueLight.com subsidiary. Ms. Maier holds a BA and MBA from Stanford University. She lives in Alameda, CA with her husband and two sons.

Dan Masterson – former CTO of My Family, co-founder of XanGo

Bio: Dan made his first million by the age of 33. From 1990-1995, Dan owned the fastest growing company in Utah. Under his role as Chief Technology Officer, MyFamily.com was the fastest growing web community of its time. Dan now works at home as a full-time XanGo distributor. He has instructed business courses at a major university, written a book on business leadership, and has consulted large network marketing companies. Dan has been programming since 1978, and is the chief architect of the MyMangosteen.com system.

Andreas Ramos – Founder, Positiion2, Author

Bio: As a well-known expert in Search Engine Marketing and technology development, Andreas develops many of Position2’s key offerings and drives activities with many of its new clients. With over 20 years technology development and entrepreneurial experience, Andreas Ramos has recently released his latest book, Insider SEO & PPC (2006). One of the first to pass the Google AdWords Professional Certification, he is a Qualified Google Advertising Professional. He has worked at SUN, SGI, Brio, and Dialpad.com. Andreas has a postgraduate degree from the Universität Heidelberg in Germany.

Doug Schuler – former chair of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR), founding member of the Seattle Community Network, Professor

Bio: Doug Schuler is a former chair of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR) and a founding member of the Seattle Community Network (SCN). He is a faculty member (Evening and Weekend Studies) of The Evergreen State College where he teaches and learns about technology and social implications of the network society. Doug has written several books and articles, including New Community Networks: Wired for Change. His new books co-edited with Peter Day are Shaping the Network Society: The New Role of Civil Society in Cyberspace (MIT Press) and Community Practice in the Network Society: Local Action/Global Interaction (Routledge). He also co-edited Cyberculture: The Key Concepts with David Bell, Brian Loader, and Nicholas Pleace.

For over 20 years Doug has been engaged with issues relating to society and computing, mostly as an activist with CPSR. He has worked on many CPSR projects including all eight of CPSR's biannual symposia on the "Directions and Implications of Advanced Computing" (DIAC) conferences, which provide a public forum for social implications of computers. Doug is currently the program director for CPSR's Public Sphere Project where he is helping to construct a large Pattern Language for Participation, Action, and Change. Doug has given presentations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South and North America on democratic technology issues.
